"How do I know what size dog crate I need?"
To figure out the proper size of dog crate you need --
You may use the Breed Chart below to determine the correct size dog crate. If you can't find your dog's breed in the charts below, then follow these next steps to accurately measure your pet.
If your dog is a puppy, you will need to make a guess on how big (s)he will be when (s)he reaches their full size based on the parents' sizes. If your dog is a known breed, most breeder's books and breeding books can tell you the normal adult sizes
for full-grown males and females. If (s)he's a mixed breed from a shelter, the adult size may turn out to be a surprise! Your guess is as good as ours - better to go a size or two larger.
If your pet is full-grown, its best to:
- Measure the pet's height from the floor to the top of his shoulders, then
- Measure from his collar to the base of his tail.
Now add another 4-6" (inches) to both measurements. This will determine the "H" (height) and the "L" (Length). The width will already be proportional to the height and length. |
