The Solar Powered Pet/Livestock Fence Charger is ideal for fencing those small-to-medium areas to keep pets and livestock either in or out. And, because it's fully solar-powered, you don't have to worry about accessibility to AC power or charging batteries. Simply hang the Electric Fence Charger unit in a relatively sunny place, install non-insulated wire on existing or new posts using insulators, drive a ground rod into the ground, connect it up and turn it on.
The Solar Powered SS-740 Charger for your Electric Fence puts out open live voltage of 8,000 volts +/- 2,000 volts depending various factors: How many strands are you putting on the Electric Fence, how much load you are putting on the SS-740 Solar Powered Electric Fence Charger etc.... So for up to a 5 acre property the SS-740 Solar Electric Fence Charger will put out as much as 10K volts and as low as 6000 volts.
The Fishock Solar Powered SS-740 Charger is capable of charging up to 1 mile of fence wire while the FiShock XP-5 charger system is capable of charging up to 5 miles of fence wire.

INSTALLATION TIPS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ELECTRIC AND NON-ELECTRIC HIGH-TENSILE FENCES
Your first step is to determine the type of high-tensile fence required, the fence design and whether to use an electric or a non-electric approach. A basic fence layout on paper will help you in establishing the post sizes, spacing, length of each run and type of brace assemblies. The fence designs listed in this manual should be helpful. Keep in mind though, your fence should be designed specifically for your particular containment needs.
WARNING - Wire, when over-stretched, may break and recoil causing serious injury. Caution is advised when working with any wire. Eye and hand protection should be worn when working with high-tensile wire.
