Why the Scat Mat Works:
Habituated behavior patterns are often correctable through simple avoidance of problem spots.
When the Scat Mat is positioned where pet feet will be just before an unwanted behavior is exhibited (i.e.: scratching, soiling, etc.), the Scat Mat sends a strong message to the pet while it is 'thinking' about performing an undesirable act.
Most pets quickly associate this unpleasant experience with the location. To avoid similar static sensations from the pet Scat Mat they begin to avoid the area.
Other reasons why the Scat Mat works:
- Training is consistent at the location, 24 hours a day
- It is the environment(Scat Mat) rather than an owner doing the 'conditioning'
- The static sensations of the Scat Mat generated are sufficiently surprising and unpleasant. These sensations communicate an immediate 'Leave now' message
Scat Mat Extension Kit (Scat Mat model# with E at end):
The Scat Mat extension allows you to increase the effective surface area by plugging into the main Scat Mat unit. (The large extension should be used with the large Scat Mat). The Scat Mat Extension is meant to be used with an existing Scat Mat Kit. The Scat Mat Extension does NOT contain a power pack; it must plug into a main Scat Mat.
